Are Macs really good for animation? Iv'e heard this is true, if so why?

Really? I always figured Adobe was the default package for animation, and that comes on windows and macs.

MOAR INFO REQUIRED D:<

I've got a Mac and a PC, and I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever. There's just a lot of people in the creative industry who insist Mac is better for animation and design and shit. I think it's just cuz they think the interface is pretty and shiny. Visual people seem to be easily swayed by shiny things.

Me like shiny light! But honestly thanks I've just heard from blogs etc that they're better for animating, but thanks I almost spent 1,000$ on a shiny box.

It depends. I guess you could say they're "good", but in the end it all comes down to what's actually inside your computer... the processor, memory, GPU, you know, the usual stuff. So they're not necessarily "better" than PCs, it just depends on the specs of the computer itself...

And I'd have to agree with MasterAardvark, Macs tend to be over-glorified. They're expensive as crap.

Also, just throwing this out there, but I recall Adobe once openly announcing that their software runs better (to some extent) on the Windows OS as opposed to the Mac... if anything though, it probably isn't a huge deal.

I realized its the version on flash that effects how well it performs on a system. My experience anyway.

my mac as a computer has only crashed like once or twice in the 4 years i've had it and never gotten a virus. this was after growing up with a pc. adobe software on the other hand, crashes probably the same amount on both pc/mac. it's usually the software's problem, not either OS. but yeah, haven't had to do any crazy harddrive formats or anything to troubleshoot startup problems or crashing problems on mac.

i think the gpu might be a bit slower on mac than a decent gaming pc though, which makes gaming on mac a bit harder depending on what graphics you're trying to run
